I hadn't welded since high school in the early 1980s. I thought I'd try it now that Iam retired. I did some research online during a major sale. I decided on a specific model from SPBTAR. I watched online videos and felt quite knowledgeable by the time it arrived. I set it up, plugged it in, placed some metal on my table, and immediately realized I was not good at welding. But I did more research and got advice from my brother in law, a professional welder with over forty years of experience. He helped me adjust the settings. Now Iam working successfully with scrap steel. My weld beads are pretty good, and Iam almost finished with my first project, a front yard gate. So far I've only used flux core, but I plan to get a gas cylinder for MIG and possibly a TIG torch later. Iam only using it on a standard outlet, but it can also use higher voltage. Itis easy to use once you understand how to set it up for your material.
For its price, this little multiprocess welder is great. I've used it for four days straight, a couple of hours each day, and it works well. I've used flux core and tried the stick function; both work fine. I plan to get some argon gas soon to try out the MIG welding.
It functions as expected, welds quickly, is small, portable, and fairly light.
I read almost every review for this welder before buying. I was very skeptical due to the low price. When it arrived, the plain packaging concerned me. However, upon unpacking, I noticed the leads, ground clamp, and gun were of much better quality than expected. I set it up immediately. First, I tried the synergic MIG mode and was blown away by how easily and well it welded. For this price, I know what Iam getting my dad and brother for Christmas.
